Snap-a-log

A citizen science project where visitors to the Mary Cairncross Scenic Reserve take photos on their smartphone of a deposing tree along the tropical forest walk, and which are uploaded to become a time-lapse video displayed in the Education Centre and online. Visitors can move the time-lapse backwards in time to explore the stages of decomposition, and also view the tree during different seasons and weather.

OUTCOMES
The solution has been develop and currently in implementation and testing phase. The snap-a-log exhibit will be launch mid-2020
